Between the Water and the Sky

Description: 

A dynamic fusion of music, dance, and storytelling, Between the Water and the Sky bears witness to an artist’s journey to reclaim their linguistic and cultural heritage through original musical compositions and embodied performance.

Cognitively Nuanced

Description: This exhibition of multidisciplinary art captures the experiences of individuals living with traumatic brain injuries (TBI).  Developed in a series of community workshops, Cognitively Nuanced examines what it is like for members of the Brain Injury Association Peterborough Region to access Peterborough’s urban spaces.

Divergent Dances:
Description: 
Divergent Dances brings the wonder of an aerial performance to the exterior of Peterborough Square.  Encounter an approach to the art form that diverges from our expectations of performance spectacle to reflect on how bodies move in public space.

Location: Peterborough Square

Dates & Times:

-Open Rehearsal on Tues. Sept. 25th from 12pm-1pm & 5pm-6pm

-Performance 1 on Fri. Sept. 28th from 7pm-8pm

-Performance 2 on Sat. Sept. 29th from 2pm -3pm

 

The Flying Canoe

Description: Get caught up in the action-packed adventures of the traditional chanson Chasse-Galerie (“The Flying Canoe”) as interpreted by the Peterborough Academy of Circus Arts.  Performers traverse an aerial canoe in a piece of live theatre, dance, fire spinning, and acrobatics.

Location: The Canadian Canoe Museum

Date: Thurs. Sept. 27th

Times:

-Performance 1 at 6pm -6:30pm

-Performance 2 at 7pm -7:30pm

 

Imaginarium

Description: This giant film projection, emanating from the windows of the Peterborough Public Library, explores the worlds of ideas, dreams, and visions captured by books on library shelves.  It’s a rich playground of human imagination.

Location: Peterborough Public Library

-Fri. Sept. 21 from 8pm -11pm

-Sat. Sept. 22 from 8pm -11pm

-Sun. Sept. 23 from 8pm -11pm

 

Poorchapalooza

Description: Tour the neighbourhood and take in the tunes at this lively, intimate concert series that transforms front porches into stages for some of the best in local indie music.  Thirteen performances over two days offer audiences diverse musical genres and the unique atmosphere of the historic Peterborough Avenues and East City.

-Sat. Sept 22 in the Avenues from 2pm -7:30pm

-Sun. Sept 23 in the East City from 2pm -7:30pm

 

Roll-O-Matic

Description: Welcome to a not-so-typical printmaking event!  Witness the Roll-O-Matic printing system in action, outdoors and with friends, as large lino-block prints are hand-pulled using a heavy, hand-operated, water-filled lawn roller.

-Sat. Sept. 22 at the Art Gallery of Peterborough from 8:30am -12:30pm

-Sat. Sept. 29 at the Silver Bean Cafe from 9am -1pm

 

Sorry about what happened at the mall

Description: Come to the Peterborough Square and discover the creativity local choreographers and dancers have found in unexpected spaces.  Sorry about what happened at the mall is a three-part contemporary dance work that offers new views of a familiar place.

Take-Out Poetry

Description: What do you do when you have a craving and don’t want to cook it yourself?  You order take-out of course! Step right up to the handmade, bicycle-pulled Poetry Cart, where gracious servers will offer you a menu of poetic options.

Take Out Poetry

Description: Meet Tootah, an open-hearted, family friendly, red-nosed Clown who likes to keep busy.  Whether collecting garbage, trying to understand Bineshiinyag (the Birds), or joyfully interacting with passersby, Tootah is always tending to something important.

The Wailing

Description: See, listen, touch, and feel the ache of environmental loss.  Through a performance of sound and movement, The Wailing welcomes audiences into a ceremony that honours the species with whom we share this planet.
