Rebel With A Cause

Rebel with a Cause honours three local outstanding women who have engaged in advocacy and action to address issues of criminalization, challenged practices in the criminal justice system, and worked towards gender equity. This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, August 10th at the Heritage Pavilion (300 Hunter St. E.), and will pay tribute to Elizabeth Stone, Indigenous Knowledge Leader at Fleming College; Sarah Lewis, Anishnaabe Kwe (Ojijbwe/Cree) spoken word artist and inaugural Poet Laureate for Nogojiwanong/Peterborough; and Marisa Mackenzie, EFry volunteer and local activist. The evening celebrations will include live music, food, silent auction, 50/50 draw, spoken word, and awards.
