Introducing Labour Jam Weekend, a free, 2-day music festival celebrating local talent in downtown Peterborough on Friday September 2, & Saturday September 3.

The Labour Jam Weekend music festival will feature an eclectic mix of genres from 11 well-known local bands including this year’s headlining acts: Lindsay Barr and Melissa Payne.
During Labour Jam weekend music will fill the streets over the long weekend for the first time in over 2 years in downtown Peterborough. The free outdoor music festival will be hosted in the heart of the downtown’s urban landscape at the Peterborough Square Courtyard (between Charlotte and Water Streets) from Friday September 2, 2pm-9pm to Saturday September 3, 3pm- 9pm.

Alongside dancing shoes, festival goers are asked to bring their own chair or blanket to Labour Jam Weekend. The two-day music festival will run rain or shine except in the event of thunderstorm.
Creating opportunities for musical performance is a real labour of love for the Union of Professional Musicians AFM local 518. Sue Moore, Secretary-Treasurer for the Union of Professional Musicians serving eastern Ontario says, “Music festivals play a vital role in the career of many up-and-coming musicians. Festivals act as a real launch pad for musicians to build audience momentum and to take that leap into the professional music arena. We couldn’t be happier to be partners in presenting the Labour Jam Weekend music festival where local bands are the primary focus”.

Local musical acts for Labour Jam Weekend have been fully funded by the Music Performance Trust Fund. The music fund (MPTF) has special funding this year for Labour Day that will employ hundreds of musicians across North America over the long weekend.
