Parents! GET SMART About Social Media & Internet Safety

Event Details: Trent Hills parents and other interested adults are being encouraged to attend a free information evening on June 18 at Campbellford District High School to learn what they can do to support their children’s safe use of technology and social media.

Being a parent in the digital age requires that parents stay up to date and in the know on the apps and platforms their kids are using or soon will be. Special guest speaker, Paul Davis – a recognized expert in Social Networking and Internet Safety in Canada – will discuss a some of the issues and dangers including Online Privacy, Texting, Sexting, Online Gaming, Online Security, Cyberbullying and more. This presentation is funded by jointly by the School Councils of three local schools – Kent PS, Hillcrest PS and Campbellford DHS – through ‘Parents Reaching Out’ Grants. Though geared toward parents, the event is open to all in the community – grandparents, teachers, childcare-providers are all welcome and encouraged to attend. However, attendees are cautioned that the presentation will include mature subject matter and will not suitable for children.
