New Ride, Same Goal. For the past five years, the Canadian Mental Health Association Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge (CMHA HKPR) has participated in Ride Don’t Hide, a nation-wide cycling event that raises funds and awareness for mental health. This year, CMHA HKPR is trying something a little different, by creating a new event to raise mental health awareness. Change the Cycle with Fresh Radio and Tom’s Heating and Cooling – Saturday June 24th, 2023. Change the Cycle is focused solely on mental health awareness right here at home. Meaning every single dollar from this year’s event, will stay in our community, supporting much needed mental health services.
This year, the funds from Change the Cycle will support our Garden Homes Project, a new initiative of our Supportive Housing program. The Garden Homes project aims to support vulnerable individuals who are at risk of homelessness in the Peterborough area by providing affordable, small homes. Through the project, CMHA HKPR will be creating small, custom-built housing for individuals or small families within Peterborough. This project is one of the first of its kind in the region and they hope to pave the way for similar projects and more affordable housing in the future.
