Harrison McKinnon Memorial Golf Tournament

Harrison McKinnon Memorial Golf Tournament

Event Details: On June 17, 2017, our 2.5 year old son Harrison died of complications of treatment following an 18 month battle with cancer. As his legacy, we have decided to hold an annual golf tournament raising money for charities that have become meaningful to us, including the Childrens Oncology Group and Hospice Peterborough. Over the past two years, we have raised over $40,000 for these two charities.

On September 13th, 2019, we will once again be holding a charity golf tournament in celebration of what would have been Harrison’s 5th birthday, and to honour his memory by giving back to the community that has given us so much of themselves. Our charity of choice this year is The Isaac Foundation, a Canadian organization based in Campbellford that funds research grants all over the world seeking to find a cure for a rare and devastating genetic disorder known as MPS (Mucopolysaccharidosis).

In our journey through Harrison’s treatment and our time spent at PRHC, we came to know a boy named Jack, who lives with MPS. Despite his challenges and weekly 4 hours infusions of a life sustaining medication, Jack is always smiling, and his family has shown us so much kindness and support despite their own fight for a cure for Jack. Continuing our tradition of choosing charities and causes close to our hearts, we have chosen this year to support Jack, his family, and all other families living with MPS, by donating 100% of the proceeds of this year’s tournament to The Isaac Foundation for use in funding research for a cure.

The tournament has sold out twice, with 144 golfers and a silent auction, dance, and fireworks following which is open to the General Public, and we hope that this year will have another successful turn-out!
