The fabulous Gilbert and Sullivan production, H.M.S Pinafore

The Centre for Opera Studies in Italy will be presenting the fabulous Gilbert and Sullivan production, H.M.S Pinafore in concert, at Lakefield United Church on Saturday October 19th at 7:30pm . The event will also feature local Tenor favourite, Jacob Abrahamse, who is a graduate of the vocal performance program at The University Of Toronto. Mr. Abrahamse will be featured singing some additional favourite Arias by legendary composers such as Mozart and Verdi. The production is directed by Doctor Darryl Edwards, who is the associate professor of vocal studies at the University of Toronto and artistic director of COSI. The cast of vocalists will consist of highly trained singers who are associated with COSI, a highly respected international vocal performance training program for undergraduate and graduate students and emerging artists. Many former members of COSI are now on the world stage performing in major international venues.

The blockbuster hit,  H.M.S. Pinafore is the most popular musical work written by the legendary Gilbert and Sullivan. This is due to its infectious tunes and well constructed libretto. The story which takes place aboard the ship H.M.S. Pinafore, is full of intrigue and laughter. The production’s humour focuses on love between members of different social classes and lampoons the British class system in general.

This is the second COSI production to take place in Lakefield. Last year COSI presented Gilbert and Sullivans “Rudigore” to a nearly sold out crowd. Tickets are $35 and an exclusive pre-event Tapas ticket can be purchased for $15. For tickets, call 705-652-3126!
