Courtney Druce, daughter of former NHL player and Peterborough Pete was an amazing young woman who spent nearly half of her life fighting cancer. By her 24th birthday she had already overcome cancer three times. She was diagnosed with Leukemia at the ages of 15, 18 and 20. Then at the age of 25, she was diagnosed with a rare form a cervical cancer. Courtney overcame cervical cancer with the same fighting spirit that she had beaten leukemia with, but in February 2015, she was admitted to the hospital in terrible pain. In November 2015, after spending nearly 9 months in and out of hospital, doctors informed Courtney that they had found a benign mass in her pelvis, blocking her kidney, and for the fifth time in her life, Courtney would take on the fight against cancer.

Throughout all of this, she remained amazingly strong and optimistic. She never lost her beautiful smile, bubbly personality or her incredible strength. She was an ambassador in the fight against cancer and spent countless hours sharing her story to inspire others to keep fighting and to stay strong.
Sadly, Courtney’s fifth battle with cancer would be her last. In April 2016, Courtney lost her battle with cancer, just 8 days away from her 28th birthday.
In 2017, the Pedal For Hope team in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society created the Courtney Druce Memorial Golf Tournament.
