City Wide Food Drive

Every year the need increases in the City and County of Peterborough with Kawartha Food Share currently serving 37 food banks and food cupboards as well as providing approximately 1.5 million meals to school breakfast programs every year.

Kawartha Food Share’s City-Wide Food Drive will be held on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 from 9:30am-12:30pm. This is the event’s 11th year and we’re hoping to surpass last year’s drive which collected almost 16,000 lbs of food! On May 29, a paper grocery bag will be delivered to city residents in the Wednesday May 29th Peterborough This Week and they are being asked to fill the bag with groceries and place it on their front step on Saturday, June 2nd. Teams of volunteers in noticeable coloured t-shirts will travel throughout the city collecting the bags of food to bring to Kawartha Food Share. We are in desperate need of these volunteer teams!

We ask for teams of at least three people, one driver and one food bag collector for each side of the road. Teams are given an area in the city to collect and then will bring it back to the warehouse to be weighed. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact Ashlee at 705-745-5377 ext 200.
