One Step Closer to a Cure

The Cahill/Denis family (Team Ti-Loup) are trekking 263 kilometres to support diabetes research!

The Sunlife/JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes will be held on June 13, and local entrepreneur, Rob Cahill and his family, plan to take it a BIG step further.

In 2019, Rob and his wife Marie-Noelle Denis received the diagnosis that their youngest daughter, Mariloup Cahill, suffered from Type 1 Diabetes (T1D). Since then, Mariloup has endured some 3,000 needles to receive her life-saving insulin (about 1,500 per year).

Our lives changed when I took Mariloup to CHEO with what turned out to be T1D symptoms. “We were all so scared but the staff at CHEO took such good care of us,” says Marie-Noelle. “We are so grateful for the medical advancements that have helped children with diabetes live a close to normal life, but this takes support from our communities.”

To help raise funds for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes, Marie-Noelle Denis, her oldest daughter Laurence Denis-Bertrand and Laurence’s boyfriend, David Patton, will walk from Peterborough to Ottawa. This is a 263 kilometres journey that begins on June 9 and ends in our Nations’ Capital on June 13. They are walking to raise awareness of the important work that JDRF does each and every day and the need for donations.

The Cahill family is challenging local business, organizations and individuals to donate to help fund ground-breaking research. Cahill’s is proud to donate up to $2,500 to match funds donated to support the group’s journey from Peterborough to Ottawa. Every dollar helps!
