(VIDEO) Strumbellas member releases solo song, showing family life during pandemic

Darryl James is the bass player for the Juno award-winning band The Strumbellas.  Like everyone else, life during the pandemic has been very different for Darryl.

But, it did allow him time to be creative, the result of which he has shared.  The House We Built is a new song recorded under his artist name Close Kicks.

As Darryl explains in his his e-mail: “This video really symbolizes how artists are adapting their work during the pandemic.  I wrote this song over Zoom with Kevin Griffin from Better than Ezra at the start of the pandemic, as we could not get together in person. The music video was filmed mostly by me this fall in my hometown of Kawartha Lakes, using myself and my family as the cast, and it was directed remotely by the Toronto director Daniel AM Rosenberg, in collaboration with Canadian illustrator/animator Nicole Charles.”

Darryl believes that this music video really captures what’s truly important during a time that is so tough.  He’s right about that.
